The Challenge
Translating complexity into intuitive experiences.
As a central bank, the Swiss National Bank faces the unique challenge of making highly complex monetary policy content accessible to an extremely heterogeneous user base. My primary objective in this project was to bridge the gap between the rigorous information requirements of a state institution and modern expectations for a first-class user experience. The goal was to conceptualize a platform that is not only technologically robust but also reflects the significantly increased importance of digital channels in financial communication, ensuring that information is both precise and intuitively discoverable.
To create a solid foundation for all design decisions, I placed the users at the absolute center of my process. I conducted over 20 in-depth interviews with various stakeholders and target groups to precisely identify pain points and usage patterns. Based on these insights, I developed an entirely new information architecture that simplifies complex data structures. A core part of my role involved the conception and specification of a consistent design system. From initial clickable prototypes to the final UI specification, I ensured that every interaction element underscores the professionalism of the SNB while maximizing overall usability.
The Approach
Evidence-based strategy and modular design.
The Solution
Measurable value through user-centered design.
Through the close integration of UX strategy and the technological implementation based on Magnolia CMS, we created a platform that sets new standards in institutional communication. Users now benefit from a clearly structured journey that massively reduces the cognitive load when searching for information. At the same time, the backend experience for the editorial team was optimized to allow for more efficient and targeted content publishing. This project demonstrates how methodical UX design and a deep understanding of user needs can successfully transform the digital presence of a politically significant institution.
